About The House
Hag & Bone began with a question:
How does a woman recover the authority to define and inhabit her own life?
Not simply to understand what has happened to her.
Not simply to become better at enduring it.
To recognise what she knows, question the laws she has inherited, and build a life that can hold what becomes true.
The Work Beneath the Work
A woman does not form herself alone.
She is shaped by families, relationships, institutions, stories, moral worlds, and ideas about what a good woman should be.
She may learn that goodness means obedience.
That love means endurance.
That care means leaving herself out.
That another person’s discomfort is evidence against her own truth.
These teachings do not remain outside her.
They enter the body, the voice, the choices she makes, the desires she mistrusts, and the life she believes she is permitted to live.
Hag & Bone creates spaces in which those inheritances can be recognised and questioned.
The work asks:
Whose law have I been obeying?
What have I mistaken for my own conscience?
What became unspeakable in order to remain loved?
What has my body known before I could find the words?
What kind of life becomes possible when I no longer organise myself around an inherited verdict?
A Feminist Poetics
My work is rooted in the belief that language matters.
The words available to a woman shape what she can recognise, question and imagine.
Clinical language can bring understanding. Sometimes another language is also needed.
The language of image.
The language of myth.
The knowledge carried by the body.
The sentence that arrives before a woman knows how she knows it is true.
Myth and fairy tale are not used here as decoration or escape. They offer maps for experiences that ordinary language cannot always hold: exile, adaptation, hunger, silence, descent, instinct, loss and return.
A symbolic image can sometimes reveal the whole shape of a life before explanation catches up.
This is why the work brings psychological depth into conversation with writing, ritual, story, imagination and lived experience.
Each offers another way of seeing.
Together, they make recognition possible.
The Foundation Stones
Recognition before explanation.
The work begins by helping a woman recognise herself in what is being named.
Questions before answers.
Some questions are capable of reorganising a life. They deserve time, depth and honest attention.
The body is part of knowing.
The body carries memory, refusal, desire, warning and truth. Its knowledge is listened to without turning every experience into a diagnosis.
The personal life has a wider world inside it.
What appears private may also carry cultural, familial and patriarchal inheritance. A woman’s suffering cannot always be understood apart from the conditions that shaped it.
Authority is recognised, not bestowed.
The work does not appoint a woman as the authority over her life. It accompanies her until she can recognise the authority already present in her own knowing.
Insight must become inhabitable.
Understanding matters. The deeper question is whether a life can begin to change shape around what has been understood.
Nothing has to be performed here.
A woman does not need the correct language, a polished story, or a perfected version of herself in order to enter the work.
The House
Hag & Bone is a house with several doorways.
Psychotherapy offers the steady continuity of an ongoing clinical relationship.
Depth Work brings myth, symbol, ritual, imagination and close accompaniment into a more immersive process.
Mentorship offers practitioners a place to bring both the work they hold and the woman holding it.
Each form has its own boundaries and architecture.
They arise from the same commitment: to meet women seriously, to resist reducing their lives to symptoms, and to stay close to the questions that matter.

About Lavinia Wilde
I am a feminist Jungian psychotherapist, writer and mythic guide.
For more than two decades, I have worked with women in psychotherapy, depth work, teaching and practitioner mentorship.
I was raised during the Troubles in Northern Ireland, where I came early to understand that silence, loyalty, danger and rupture live in bodies, families, landscapes and inherited stories.
That lived knowledge sits alongside my professional training. It has shaped my attention to what remains unspoken, what is carried between generations, and what a woman may have learned to call normal because it was the world she knew.
My work is informed by feminist and Jungian psychology, systemic thought, myth, symbolic and imaginal practice, creative inquiry and more than twenty years of clinical experience.
I hold a Master’s in Creative Writing Therapy, a First-Class Honours degree in English and Creative Writing, a BA in Addictions Therapy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Eco-Therapy, a Diploma in Psycho-Spiritual Psychotherapy, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Bridging Psychotherapy and Shamanism.
My wider training includes trauma-informed and LGBTQ+ affirmative practice, as well as advanced study in imaginal and shamanic approaches.
Through Hag & Bone, I offer psychotherapy, private Depth Work, mythic rites and mentorship for practitioners.
WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY:“Lavinia is the real deal, she’s wise, skilled, dedicated and grounded. She carried out a soul retrieval for me and her insight was jaw-dropping. If you’re hesitating and wondering whether or not to do this work I’d say go for it!”
